Russia

It is with great pleasure we are now announcing our most recent international school to open in Russia. The great thing about this new school is it is run by an old student from the USA, Guru Ted Walls.

Guru Ted Walls is also being appointed as our new International Director for Europe and Asia as he is a man of skill, education, honor and dignity. Ted was always considered a fantastic student and a superb teacher. Ted is happy to be back with us and us with him.

Pendekar Sanders

From Ted Walls:

Respected Pendekar Sanders,

Thank you for the honor of being able to teach and learn in this art. I will teach only what I learned directly from you, and what you direct me to teach. Our first class will be later today, with six students.

My plan now is to teach them jurus (fluid on the cross), the energy langka you taught us, the fluid elbow guarding sequence, langka elbow, langka pedang, juru 1 & 2 energy building exercise, snake footwork and strikes, harimau movement with the "roll ups" on the opponent's leg, the ground tiger, spider web footwork and attacks, poison hands, the war wheel, the plate dancing movement, blakok knee and elbow techniques, python, elemental invocation, animal movement, and "programming" techniques in the circle of creation.

I will teach what fluid drills and applications I remember from your seminars. When I taught at King Dragon, I focused almost exclusively on what you taught at your seminars, so I had a chance to memorize them fairly well through both practice and explanation.

As of now, all we need here is your blessing and your direction. If you can give me a picture of what I am missing it will greatly help to re-establish myself in the art- in a more legitimate way this time.

I feel bad because these guys trained for years in these arts, and in Soviet times they couldn't pick or choose between a wide range of available marital arts like we could in the west. They invested their time and energy into what they must now perceive to be a boring sport. But they are all very hard, in very good physical condition, and so far seem very disciplined, and short on fear. They haven't become 100% Cimande devotees yet, but they're training, and we're only on our fourth class.

Some of my friends were in the military here, and they showed me some Sambo. I also saw a demonstration of it at a local police academy. I don't know if you've seen any of it yet, but it's almost just like the stuff they gave us in the Marine Corps, a collection of basic self-defense techniques. There's no movement, or any real way to apply it under combat conditions. It sounds exotic, and it's "from Russia", but the quality of the Russian army was highly overrated for years. Translated into English, Sambo is an acronym which simply means "self-defence".

In Russia, the name of the person goes last on the address. It's the address and phone number of the organization I'm with here and a caller should ask for me by name.

Russia is a very good place. The people still live a real life, and they are hard. If you do come here for a seminar, let me recommend summer! Thana very good place.
